News from the three Markets

Hamilton:     The most fun you can have in a car park!

The usual plethora of fresh produce, fruit and vegetables, flowers, honey, preserves, jams, chutneys, juices, cheese, salmon, wine, oil, the list goes on….

Asparagus!! Asparagus!!  Nothing says spring more than the tender, delicious spears of asparagus, steamed to perfection with a dollop of melting butter.  Freshly picked at the perfect time. Asparagus also goes perfectly with hollandaise sauce and smoked salmon. By the way, you can get your smoked salmon at the market as well. Come on down and get some fresh asparagus for yourself this weekend.

Lanes End Wines will be at the market this weekend. Dr Rainer Eschenbruch has a long career as a wine scientist. Rainer’s organic wines are made with his grapes, grown in Tamahere and organically grown with no insecticides, herbicides or fungicides which results in healthy, nutritious wines. Have a look on our facebook page about a uniquely Waikato wine that was made in collaboration with other local winemakers.

Living Gold Olive Oil has been gaining rave reviews lately from their customers who tell them their oil tastes beautiful. If you have watched ‘What’s really in our food’ on TV3, you may have heard that the best way to buy olive oil is local and fresh and in dark bottles to protect from the light as oil degrades over time. So the best way to buy your olive oil is fresh and local from your Farmers market. More info on facebook.
